About the Program

Collaborate with a team of community leaders to put on a gender-focused hackathon for your city! Our goal of the Chapter Program is to make your event planning experience easy and fun by providing you access to detailed planning guides, templates, and support from our full-time staff.

The Chapter Program is a great fit for anyone looking to give back to their community while building their resume and network. Last year, 70% of our organizers reported landing an interview after partaking in the Chapter Program.

“Being a part of TechTogether has improved my confidence exponentially. As a math education major with an interest in tech but limited knowledge I didn’t think I would have many chances to get involved. TechTogether provided me with opportunities to build connections and learn more about computer science.”

No Dumb Questions!

Do I need any coding or hackathon experience to apply?

No coding or hackathon experience is required to partake in the Chapter Program. The point of the Chapter Program is to teach you the skills needed to organize a hackathon for your community.

What if I don't live or go to school in one of the chapter locations?

For our 2023 season, TechTogether will have chapters in the following locations: Boston, New York, Seattle, Atlanta, Miami, England (NEW), and Chicago.

We aim to open new chapter's again next year. Keep an eye out in our newsletter for opportunities to start a chapter in your city.

Who can I contact with more questions?

Feel free to email us at info@techtogether.io with any questions.

What aspects of the program will be in-person this year?

All organizers will be required to attend their chapter's in-person hackathon. All other events are up to the discretion of your team and Chapter Director. Typically, weekly meetings will be hosted virtually with monthly or bi-monthly optional in-person team building activities.

Are the Chapter Program opportunities paid?

This is an unpaid volunteer opportunity with a local TechTogether chapter. The opportunities offered in the Chapter Program are similar to those you would receive volunteering for a student club on your college campus.

Who is eligible to apply?

You must be 16-24 years old and go to school or live in the state that the chapter is located.

What are the benefits I can gain from this opportunity?

1. Gain insight on how to network and outreach effectively. 2. Build valuable project management and organization skills. 3. Get access to an alumni network that can assist with referrals to companies such as Stripe, Google, T-Mobile, Microsoft, and more! 4. Be involved with an initiative that is proactive about increasing the diversity of tech (which you can put on your resume!)!

Can I apply for multiple roles?

Yes, you can apply for as many roles that interest you.
